NMSBVI Old WEC Building

As part of the expansion of the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, an old classroom building on campus was selected for conversion into an administrative support facility. Built in 1942, it was crucial to maintain its aesthetic consistency with the other campus buildings. The project required structural designs for a new elevator and mechanical systems, necessitating an analysis of the existing structure prior to design completion. Given the building's specific role, a seismic evaluation was also conducted to determine if upgrades were needed incompliance with the 2009 IEBC for Level 3 Alteration.
