 Project

Bel Air Sports complex

We designed the structural framework for the new sports complex at Bel Air High School to support the school's thriving sports programs. Confronted with limited available land, we collaborated with the school to create a 98,000 sq. ft. two-story multiuse gymnasium. This facility features a competitive gym on the ground floor and a practice gym on the upper floor. The practice gym includes three courts, a wrestling room, and a gymnastics practice area. The competition gym is designed as a column-free space to provide unobstructed views of the court. With the second floor also hosting athletic activities, managing vibrations was crucial. Therefore, the second floor was engineered with floor trusses capable of spanning 135 feet and weighing 27 tons, ensuring suspended equipment like goals and lights remains table.
